Welcome to CANDID

Let me thank you for visiting the CANDID website. Just to be clear, CANDID is an acronym for the Coalition of Aworis and Descendants in Diaspora. As the name implies, CANDID provides the platform for all Awori Sons and Daughters outside of Nigeria to socialize, network, and channel resources towards giving back to the under-represented, under-served, less-privileged indigenes, especially women and children, of Africa’s most populous economic hub, currently situated in Lagos and Ogun States of Nigeria.

To do this, we accept donations from individuals (mostly members) and organizations, as well as collaborate with other non-profit organizations who share in the CANDID vision of making positive impacts in these otherwise socioeconomically deprived communities.

The cornerstone of our efforts include but are not limited to the following:

  • Organization of biennial conventions – “Awori Day in Diaspora”, to attract government entities, investors, representatives of business communities and chambers of commerce, to a platform where investment opportunities within the various Awori communities in Nigeria are showcased. These platforms also provide numerous networking and socializing opportunities for the many Awori elites, indigenes, and CANDID members from all over the world.

  • Scholarship awards to students in Awori communities in Nigeria.

  • Scholarship awards to Awori students in diaspora.

  • Support of meaningful projects and programs within Awori communities.

  • Development of vocational based training for Awori youths.

While our current members are drawn from the USA, UK, and Canada, I would like to invite all Awori indigenes outside of Nigeria to be a part of this effort.

Sincerely,

Hon. (Chief) Olatunbosun Osuro

President
